Carer wins first round in discrimination at work case

A carer recently won the first round of her case at the European Court of Justice. Sharon Coleman cares for her disabled four-year old son, but the case could bring new rights to carers to people of any age. Imelda Redmond, Chief Executive of Carers UK, said:- 'This landmark legal opinion means that employers will have to alter the way they treat carers in their workforce.'

New resource pack to help combat isolation of older people

Leeds Older People's Forum and the LinkAge Plus project have launched a resource pack to help tackle social isolation among older people. The pack is aimed at all professionals working with older people in Leeds. There will also be associated training. The scheme is linked to Older Better, Leeds strategy to promote a healthy and active life for older people.
